When developing their new packaging for their well-known Naked Pig Pale Ale and Truck Stop Honey beer varieties, Back Forty Beer Company wanted to think outside of the traditional bottle label and six-pack carriers that have been a staple for glass bottles for decades. Back Forty’s new packaging illustrated by Steven Noble is the product of almost a year of research and development. These unique iconic illustrations created in a linocut style tell the story behind Back Forty Beer Company’s name which is is inspired by an old agricultural term referring to the 40 acres of land situated furthest from the barn. The back 40 acres are historically the most challenging land to maintain and are often overlooked due to their remote location with Alabama is widely seen as the wasteland for craft beer in America.
