Sheri Bates of Slbert Perkins Design commissioned Steven Noble to compose the illustration for the California State Polytechnic University Pomona's new logo. The illustration includes a series of symbolic elements that includes a horse, the campus buildings along with the surrounding San Gabriel mountains located in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The success of this new logo has
greatly improved the logo identity of the university. The artwork was originally created in a scratchboard engraving style.
