CF Napa commissioned Steven Noble to create the new illustrations for Chateau de Fonplegade's new line-up of wine labels that include both "Chateau de Fonplegade" and "Fleur de Fonplegade." The winery is located in Saint-Emilion, France and the challenge was to illustrate the 1,000 year old fountain which is steeped in history. More than just being the source of Fonplegade's name (literally "fountain of plenty"), for a millennia it has quenched the thirst of pilgrims and offered sustenance to the grape vines in the driest years. In addition, the Chateau itself was illustrated for their main label. The artwork was rendered on scratchboard (scraper board) using precision knife tools.
