Early Oak at Wysdom Hall is an antiques dealers specialising in 15th to 19th century English oak furniture. Based in the Medieval village of Burford, Oxfordshire, in the iconic Wysdom Hall, the business has history and authenticity at its heart. Studio Folk were asked to create an original brand identity for the company including a new logo, printed collateral, shop signage, photography and web design.
The logo design is based on a period wood carving and represents Simon Wysdom, the architect of many buildings in Burford, including the company’s home. The illustration was created by renowned woodcut and scratchboard artist Steven Noble, whose style works perfectly with the branding, adding an original and authentic element. Printed letterheads, envelopes, business cards and invoices have typographic design influenced by 19th century print, and, along with the product labels, are printed using traditional letterpress techniques. A process which creates a timeless, tactile feel. Studio Folk have been working with Early Oak at Wysdom Hall on a photography-driven website design to launch towards the end of 2016.
