Simone Castelli owner of Podere 414 contacted Steven Noble to create a series of illustrations for their wine labels. The illustrations depict landscapes, stories and tales behind the creation of wine such as the field worker relaxing in a wheel barrow, and workers picking and harvesting the grapes.The winery is in south-west Tuscany, close to the Mediterranean coast and is 2.5 hectares in an agricultural plot called Podere 414 (‘Farm 414’), and clearly decided that this would be as good a name as any with a firm belief in environmentally friendly cultivation – absolutely no herbicides or chemical fertilisers.
