Precept Wine along with Paul Gregutt approached Steven Noble to create a unique illustration for their new up and coming wine called Waitsburg Cellars which is named after the small town in Washington state where the new winery was launched. Waitsburg was a chartered town prior to Washington officially becoming a state; their town motto is “One of a Kind” and Paul Gregutt adopted the same notion for his wines, printing this maxim on the label and making less common grapes the focus of the winery. The symbols within the illustration have different meanings that includes the Moon, Grapevines, Rose, Music and Writing. The artwork was hand illustrated on scratchboard and translated into a woodcut style.
